| If
you are visiting Krabi or Ao
Nang be sure to make time to visit the famous Fossil Shell
Beach, which is only 17 kilometres from downtown Krabi.
Around 40 million years ago the area was once
a freshwater marsh that was mainly populated by just two centimetre
long pond snails and small clams.
Due to the numerous dead shells a unique structured
floor of fossils was created that measures over 40 centre metres
in thickness, called shelly limestone.
