Recommended Adventures around Phuket:
Phuket is Thailand's largest island and lies off the west coast of Southern Thailand in the Andaman Sea. What used to be a sleepy Muslim fishing village has turned into one of Thailands most popular tourist destinations. With white sandy beaches, sparkling clear blue seas and spectacular colourful sunsets, it is clear to see why people love to holiday in Phuket. The island has a rugged tropical mountain range which passes right down the centre creating two distinct sides. The west side of Phuket has the warm clear waters of the Andaman Sea lapping the shores of palm fringed white beaches. This is the popular beach resort area with hundreds of hotels to suit all budgets to choose from. The east side of the island is home to the main port districts of Phuket and up and down the coastline you will find plenty of scenic coves with great views overlooking the deep blue waters of Phang Nga Bay. There is a lot you can do
in Phuket with plenty of different adventures for different tastes.
The famous Patong Beach is the best spot for water sports, superb dining,
market shopping and nightlife. If you are after solitude, beaches south
of Patong such as Kata and Karon Beaches are usually uncrowded even
in busy periods. If you are wanting total relaxation, then head north
where there are several plush resort spas for total decadence and beautiful
lush green courses for a round of golf. Make sure to visit the idillic
destination of Koh Phi Phi (Koh means Island in Thai), a one and a half
hour ferry ride off the south-east tip of Phuket. This secluded, jungle
covered island is surrounded by gorgeous, clear blue waters gently lapping
the majestic limestone cliffs.
